Carron Valley Foresters Houses (Forestry Commission Scotland)

The brief was for a new design and build scheme to replace an existing Forestry Commission house on the site. The site allowed for two 4 bedroom semi-detached houses with ample space for garden plots. The design competition was won by Module Architects and Locate Architects working as a Joint Venture.
The house was designed to achieve a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM Eco-homes rating and have a sustainable ethos throughout. We utilised a state of the art timber framing system and blown cellulose type insualtion. U-vaues were better than Regulation standard and ait-tightness was maximised through carefully detailing.
The main living space was double height comprising kitchen, dining and living with a bridge crossing through the volume at first floor level.
